John Warner, Ph.D.
Senior Scientist
John has a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley focusing on neuroscience and gene expression. He received his PhD in Nanoengineering from UC San Diego for his research 3D printing scaffolds that enable cell growth and tissue actuation. He has joined BlueNalu to combine his industry successes in assay development and problem resolution with his research interest in 3D printing muscle tissue.
John has nearly a decade of practical industry experience protecting companies’ “Right to Operate” under FDA and EMEA biologics regulation for protein-based cancer therapies. Through helping ensure therapy safety and consistency for end-users for years while maintaining ethical integrity, he has helped advert various issues to improve patient lives. It is with this same discipline and trove of experience from these many scenarios which he draws from to benefit our food products.
Conscientious of future science and resource usage, he has spent considerable time mentoring students, teaching coworkers and advising groups in the community how to apply practical solutions to theoretical designs. He feels that providing such guidance seeks to address larger issues in data transparency, community value by preparing individuals for jobs, and enabling more realistic concepts to become better products.
With several published illustrations for scientific journals, book covers, community logos and company designs, John’s artistic visual awareness provides some diversity to his scientific perspective and an appreciation of nature. Witnessing the marvels of the environment through mountain biking, diving, and spelunking provide his motivation to support solutions which seek to preserve the ocean.
