National expert in supply chain environmental management and sustainability
Dr. Kevin Lyons is Associate Professor at the Rutgers Business School, Supply Chain and Marketing Sciences Department, where he leads programs in Supply Chain Environmental Management, Green Purchasing, Procurement and Global Sourcing, and Operations Analysis. He also serves as Director of the Rutgers Business School Public Private Community Partnerships Program, and as Associate Director of the Rutgers Energy Institute - Institute for Marine and Coastal Sciences. Previously, Dr. Lyons served as Chief Procurement Officer at Rutgers University, and Executive Director, Procurement and Contracting Division, where he was responsible for annual procurement of over $700 million and university assets of over $1.5 billion.
Kevin conducts research on developing and integrating global environmental, social, economic, ethical criteria and data into supply chain/procurement systems and processes. His research work includes the environmental and economic impacts on raw material extraction, logistics, manufacturing, and consumption; designing and implementing local, national and international environmental economic development systems; waste-to-energy systems and environmental and sustainable social policy and financial impact forecasting (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley Corporate Social and Environmental Impact Reporting).
He created the supply chain archeology and supply chain waste archeology research disciplines at Rutgers, and has researched and written extensively on conducting environmental health-checks on global supply chains and the resulting benefits of reduced risk management impacts and costs. His research interests include Supply Chain Management (Supply Chain Archaeology, Industrial and Manufacturing Decision Making, Big Data Analytics and Process Modeling (Game Theory-Decision Theater Modeling), Life-Cycle Assessment and Costing Modeling (using parallel Product Life Cycle-Supply Chain Modeling), Carbon-Energy Eco-Labeling, and Environmental Reporting and Informatics e-Business/e-Environmental Contract Management.
Kevin is the recipient of a number of awards, including the Sierra Club Annual Professional of the Year Award, and the New Jersey State Governor's Award for Environmental Leadership and Excellence
He has his PhD in Supply Chain Management, Environmental Management and Policy, from the Centre for Environmental Informatics at the University of Sunderland, in Sunderland, England.
